Hand-Painted Portraits for Pet Memorial & Cremation Services
Families who have just lost a pet want one thing: to see the animal again as it was. A hand-painted portrait does that in a way a print never will, and it is one of the few memorial products that ends up on a wall rather than in a drawer.
Offering originals used to mean betting your reputation on an artist’s mood. Our trade program removes that risk: every piece is proofed before shipping, every order is priced at trade from the first piece, and the painting arrives at the family’s door in packaging that carries your name, not ours.
How memorial services run this
The portrait is offered on the aftercare form alongside urns, paw prints and clay impressions, in two or three sizes. The family’s photos come to us with the order; we confirm the detail level the photos support and a timeframe. If the photos are weak we say so at once and ask whether the family has others.
The painting is proofed, adjusted if needed, varnished and shipped — either to the family directly or to your premises for a hand-over at collection, whichever fits your service. Services that hand the painting over in person tell us it is the moment the family remembers.
The problem
What usually gets in the way
-
A memorial product cannot go wrong
The family has one chance at this. A portrait that arrives with the wrong eye colour or a stiff expression is not a return — it is a grieving customer and a reputation problem. Print products are safe but forgettable; originals feel right but feel risky.
-
Families have poor photos and no patience for paperwork
The best photo of the animal is often years old, blurry, or a screenshot. Families are not in a state to be told their photo is unusable, and your staff cannot judge what a painter can do with it.
-
You need a product line, not a favour from an artist
A memorial line has to be available every week, at a consistent price, with predictable turnaround and a clear process your staff can explain in a sentence. Individual artists cannot offer that; print shops can, but nobody grieves over a print.
How we handle it
What we do about it
-
Proof before shipping, on every piece
Nothing ships until the finished painting has been photographed and approved — by you, or by the family if you prefer. Likeness and colour are adjusted at that stage. This is the mechanism that makes an original safe to offer.
-
We work from what the family has
Old, low-resolution and combined photos are our daily work. Send everything the family has; we tell you honestly which detail level the references support and, if needed, use one photo for the eyes and another for the coat.
-
Unbranded, direct to the family, on your terms
The painting ships in our crate with your card or certificate, no branding of ours, to the family's door or to your premises for a hand-over. Trade pricing from one piece means you can offer this alongside urns and paw prints without holding stock.

Proof of hand
Real paint, real brushstrokes
Every piece is completed by one painter from start to finish — no assembly line. Below: a close-up crop of a finished painting, and a painter at work. Every image on this site is a photograph of real hand-painted work.
FAQ for pet memorial & cremation services
Can you paint from a photo of the pet after it has passed?
We paint from photos of the animal in life and, when those are all that exist, from older or imperfect ones combined. If the only recent images are from the final days or after passing, tell us — we will use them for reference only where appropriate and paint the animal as it was.
How do we present this to families?
Most services offer it as an option on the aftercare form with two or three sizes and a sample on the wall of the reception. We supply process images and a raking-light photo so your staff can show that it is a real painting, not a print.
Can the family approve the proof directly?
Yes, if you prefer. We can send the proof to you to forward, or to the family with your branding in the message. Either way, nothing ships without approval.
What about a keepsake-size portrait?
Small canvases are common for memorial work — an 8 × 10 in or 11 × 14 in head study painted at the Refined or Hyperreal level. Ask for the small sizes on the trade list.
Can you include a name, dates or a short line on the painting?
Yes. Lettering can be painted onto the canvas or supplied as a small brass plate on the frame. Tell us the wording at order and we show it on the proof.
