Hand-Painted Portraits for Interior Designers

The art is usually the last thing to arrive and the first thing the client sees. When it is a stock canvas in the wrong proportions, the room reads as almost finished. When it is a hand-painted portrait of the client’s own dog, sized to the wall and toned to the scheme, the room reads as theirs.

We work with designers as a trade supplier: one piece at a time, trade pricing from the first order, custom sizes, and a proof you can approve from your desk before anything is crated. Your fee stays intact because prices are never published and the painting can ship to the site without our name on it.

What working with us looks like

You send the wall dimensions, a photo of the subject and, if useful, a mood board or swatch for the background. We reply with a size and orientation recommendation and a written quote against the trade list. Once confirmed, the painter drafts the composition; for larger pieces we send a sketch of the layout for your approval before paint.

When the painting is finished you receive proof photographs — straight on for colour and likeness, raking light for texture. You approve or request adjustments. The piece is then varnished, framed if ordered, crated and shipped to the address you give us, with tracking to your inbox. Designers in Scandinavia, Switzerland and the Gulf are a growing part of our trade book precisely because the process runs remotely from start to finish.

The problem

What usually gets in the way

  • The client wants original art, and the art does not fit

The wall is 140 cm wide and the painting you found is 90. The colours fight the upholstery. Stock art is the wrong size, the wrong palette, and it is not about the client — and clients notice when the art is about nobody.

  • Galleries want retail, artists want time

Buying through a gallery leaves no room for your design fee. Commissioning an independent artist directly means months of waiting, unpredictable communication and no way to control the delivery date against the install.

  • Every project is one piece

Wholesale art suppliers are built for volume. You need one portrait of the client's dog for the study, one highland cow for the boot room, one family group over the fireplace — each a single order with its own deadline.

How we handle it

What we do about it

  • Painted to the wall, not to a stock size

Tell us the wall dimensions and the sightlines and we recommend a canvas size and orientation. We paint to custom sizes and proportions and can work from your mood board for background colour and tone.

  • Trade pricing on one piece, with your fee protected

Trade pricing applies from the first piece and we never publish prices, so your client sees your number, not ours. Invoices go to your studio; the painting can ship to the site unbranded.

  • Scheduled against your install

Give us the install date at order and we confirm whether it is realistic before you commit. Proof photos arrive before shipping so you can sign off remotely; framed pieces ship crated and ready to hang.

Proof of hand

Real paint, real brushstrokes

Every piece is completed by one painter from start to finish — no assembly line. Below: a close-up crop of a finished painting, and a painter at work. Every image on this site is a photograph of real hand-painted work.

FAQ for interior designers

Can you match a background colour to a paint swatch or fabric?

Yes. Send a swatch reference, a photo of the fabric or a paint code and we mix the background to sit with it. We confirm the colour on the digital proof under daylight-balanced light before shipping.

Do you paint subjects other than pets and people — decor pieces?

Yes. Highland cows, horses, hares, birds and other animal subjects are painted as decor pieces from reference photos you choose or we supply. The same trade terms apply.

Can the painting ship framed and ready to hang to the site address?

Yes. Choose a frame from our options or send us a frame spec; the piece ships in a wooden crate with hanging hardware fitted. Unframed pieces can ship rolled for your own framer.

What do you need from the client for a pet or family portrait?

A sharp photo at the subject's eye level in even light. Our photo guide explains what works; if the client's photos are weak, send them anyway and we will tell you which detail level they support.

Can you handle several pieces for one project with staggered dates?

Yes. Tell us the sequence and we schedule against it. Each piece is proofed separately so you can approve them as they finish.
