Hand-Painted Portraits for Frame Shops & Framers
A frame shop already has everything needed to sell original paintings — the bench, the mouldings, the customers who care how things look on a wall — except the paintings. We supply that missing part on trade terms built for framers: rolled canvas, sized to your stock, one at a time.
Trade pricing applies from the first piece, so you can offer commissioned pet and family portraits at the counter without holding any stock. The painting arrives cured and varnished in a tube; you stretch it, frame it and sell the finished piece as your own work.
The counter commission
The most common set-up is simple. A customer asks whether you can do “something like a painting” of their dog. You show them a sample on the wall and our process images, take their photo and choose a size against the trade list, and send us the order. We proof the painting to you before shipping; you approve, we roll and ship, and you frame it for collection. The customer’s relationship stays with you at every step.
Framers in the Nordics and Switzerland, where design-led customers expect originals and framing quality matters, have been a natural fit for this arrangement.
The problem
What usually gets in the way
-
You have the framing, not the painting
Customers walk in with prints and photos to frame, and walk out. You have the skill, the mouldings and the wall space to sell finished, framed originals — but no reliable source of paintings that arrive ready for your bench.
-
Shipping stretched canvases is expensive and risky
A stretched, framed painting is a crate, a courier surcharge and a corner waiting to be dented. Buying finished framed art from a studio means paying twice for framing — theirs and yours.
-
Studios do not size to your stock
Your mouldings and standard rebates are what they are. A painting that arrives at an odd size means a custom frame at cost, or a compromise the customer can see.
How we handle it
What we do about it
-
Shipped rolled, unstretched, ready for your bench
Paintings ship rolled around a wide core in a rigid tube, varnished and cured. You stretch and frame in-house, which cuts shipping cost sharply and lets you sell the framing as your own work.
-
Painted to your sizes
Tell us the sizes and proportions your stock frames and stretcher bars take and we paint to them, with a margin for wrapping. Custom sizes for a specific customer frame are quoted the same way.
-
Trade pricing from one piece, no stock
Offer commissioned pet and family portraits at the counter, take the order and the photo, and send it to us. One order, trade price, shipped unbranded. Nothing sits in your storeroom.

Proof of hand
Real paint, real brushstrokes
Every piece is completed by one painter from start to finish — no assembly line. Below: a close-up crop of a finished painting, and a painter at work. Every image on this site is a photograph of real hand-painted work.
FAQ for frame shops
How much unpainted margin is left for stretching?
We paint the image to your stated size and leave a margin for wrapping or a gallery-wrap extension of the background if you prefer that finish. Tell us the stretcher depth and we paint the sides to match.
How long must the painting cure before I stretch it?
Every piece is dried and varnished at the studio before rolling, and we tell you the drying schedule used on the confirmation. Handle it as you would any rolled oil painting — unroll flat and let it rest before stretching.
Can I sell a "commission a portrait" service at my counter?
Yes. Many framers take the order and the customer's photo at the counter, send it to us, and frame the finished piece for collection. We supply process images and a sample so you can show customers what they are buying.
Can you also supply the piece stretched or framed if a customer insists?
Yes. Stretched-only or framed pieces ship in a wooden crate. Most framers prefer rolled because it costs less to ship and keeps the framing margin with them.
